Festival Hall, after a great success in 2022, is once again hosting “The Jazz Legacy Project” featuring world-renowned musicians John Sandfort on Sax, Louis Heriveaux on piano, Kevin Smith on bass and the very entertaining narrator and drummer, Justin Varnes.

Kicking off the 2023 series, ‘The Jazz Legacy Project’ documented and celebrated the great Cannonball Adderley, ’Preaching the Gospel of Jazz’ and featured two signa- ture songs recorded by actress and singer Nancy Sue Williams, which was performed by professional jazz vocalist and Festival Hall executive director Nicole Chillemi.

Alongside on stage with Varnes, Sanfort and Smith was Justin Powell on trumpet and recent musical graduate Nathanial Smith on piano.

This 90-minute program once again brought a standing ovation to a sold-out house.

The next program will celebrate the life and music of Art Blakey, the father of modern jazz at Festival Hall on May 11. The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. and runs approximately 90 minutes. Tickets will go on sale in late March. For further information, visit festivalhallga.com.
